Location: Leeds, Cambridge, Sheffield, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff & Manchester; UK Recruiter contact: Laura Easdon Overview Of The Role Mott MacDonald’s Water Consultancy Division delivers flood risk services, including flood risk assessments, nature-based solutions, and reservoir flood studies. Our multidisciplinary teams work through the full project life cycle, from feasibility studies to design, construction support and site supervision. Responsibilities Developing and checking hydraulic models (Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC‑RAS, ICM) to design flood alleviation schemes, deliver flood risk assessments and conduct reservoir flood studies. Conceptualising and scoping hydraulic modelling approaches. Producing and checking high quality client reports. Undertaking and checking hydrological assessments using Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP. Mentoring/training junior staff from scoping to delivery, providing guidance on programme, consenting, construction and maintenance risks. Developing project management and business development skills by engaging with clients. Candidate specification Essential Experience delivering flood risk management studies. Experience using hydraulic and flood modelling software (Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC‑RAS, ICM). Degree level qualification in hydrology, geography, mathematics, civil engineering or related discipline. Good written and communication skills. Well‑organised, able to prioritise workload with minimal supervision. Understanding of prioritising health, safety and environmental issues. Desirable Professional chartership (ICE, CIWEM, IMA). Consultancy experience in flood modelling and risk management. Knowledge of ArcGIS, QGIS and Python.
