Job DescriptionPrincipal Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling ConsultantLocation: Manchester Salary: Competitive plus benefitsA fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Principal Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant to join a growing multidisciplinary consultancy in Manchester. This role is ideal for an experienced specialist who is ready to take technical leadership across flood risk assessments, hydrology, and hydraulic modelling projects, while helping shape and grow a developing water team in the region.As a Principal Consultant, you will lead the delivery of Flood Risk Assessments, hydraulic modelling studies and water environment reports for residential, commercial and mixed use developments. You will support project managers, guide junior consultants and play a key part in developing modelling capability within the Manchester office, collaborating closely with hydrology specialists based elsewhere in the business.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments, ES chapters and hydraulic modelling reports.Undertake hydrological assessments using FEH methods, ReFH2 and WINFAP.Build and run hydraulic models with software such as HEC RAS, TUFLOW, Flood Modeller or ESTRY.Provide technical leadership on model development, stabilisation and calibration.Deliver site walkovers, surveys and risk assessments.Support fee proposals, project planning and commercial delivery.Liaise with regulators, planning authorities, clients and design teams.Mentor and support junior staff and help grow the regional water team.About YouSignificant experience in flood risk and hydraulic modelling.Strong technical capability with industry modelling and hydrology tools.Excellent report writing, communication and stakeholder engagement.Confident leading projects, managing budgets and providing guidance to others.Working towards or holding chartership is desirable.Penguin Recruitment is operating as a Recruitment Agency for this position.
