Lead Reporting Radiographer Closing date: 22 December 2025 About the role The post holder will lead and manage the team of reporting radiographers, providing guidance, mentoring, and ensuring high professional and technical standards. They will coordinate planning and delivery of educational programmes, manage data assessment to monitor reporting turnaround times, and contribute to service improvements and redesign. In addition, they will deliver precise clinical reports, offer expert verbal guidance, conduct audits, and maintain communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities Deliver precise, clinically sound written reports on a range of imaging examinations and suggest diagnosis or differential diagnosis with follow‑up action. Provide expert verbal clinical guidance to radiographers, clinicians and other practitioners. Evaluate appropriateness of radiology referrals in line with national regulations and local protocols. Champion the role of reporting radiographers, contribute to patient care and organisational operations, and demonstrate excellent clinical expertise. Serve as a key advisor to imaging referrers and patients. Perform high‑quality diagnostic imaging for the full range of examinations, maintaining patient comfort, safety and appropriate communication. Adapt imaging protocols to optimise diagnostic information per clinical indications. Assess patient communication needs and implement alternatives when required to ensure safety. Promptly communicate critical findings, adhere to Infection Control protocols and use personal protective equipment where appropriate. Fulfil responsibilities as an IRMER operator under IRMER (2017). Represent the Trust as an active member of the ImageEast imaging network. Participate in the Radiology Duty Manager roster and the divisional Bronze roster. Person specification Registered HCPC healthcare professional. Evidence of ongoing professional development. Reporting qualifications. Educated to Masters level or equivalent. Experience with a wide range of imaging equipment and techniques. Previous management experience and delivering performance standards. Experience managing complex change projects in the NHS.
