Job Summary To maintain efficiency of radiotherapy equipment for patient treatment and to perform in‑vivo measurements. To keep records up to date in accordance with the quality system and to report any faults, potential or real, to senior staff. To plan radiotherapy treatments within the Pre‑Treatment Department. Responsibilities Maintain efficiency of radiotherapy equipment for patient treatment. Perform in‑vivo measurements for patient care. Keep records up‑to‑date in accordance with the quality system. Report any faults, potential or real, to senior staff. Plan radiotherapy treatments within the Pre‑Treatment Department. Create radiotherapy treatment plans using Eclipse. Liaise with Radiographers, Physicists and other Technologists to ensure best use of time. Communicate with patients and carers, providing help, advice and support concerning the radiotherapy process. Manage and adjust own workload on a day‑to‑day basis. Prioritise work to be done. Use own skills and experience to make judgments to achieve the best and most accurate planning of a patient. Co‑ordinate a TBI treatment from initial scan and test dose through to treatment. Assist the team leader to manage the workload of the assigned work area. Perform routine QA checks on all treatment machines; assist in non‑routine measurements and commissioning of new equipment. Perform routine in‑vivo measurements on patients during treatment. Qualifications Essential Educated to degree level in a scientific subject. Registration as a Clinical Technologist with an accredited register (e.g., RCT, HCPC). Desirable Graduate of the NHS Practitioner Training Programme (PTP) in Radiotherapy Physics. Physics or Engineering degree. Knowledge and Expertise Essential Broad knowledge of healthcare science, preferably radiotherapy. High level of understanding of staff/patient risks involved in equipment failure or misuse. Understanding of radiation and biological hazards and necessary precautions. Desirable Specialist knowledge of work with radioactive sources. Treatment planning experience, preferably using Eclipse. Experience Essential Experience of quality management system(s). Desirable Experience of working within a scientific and/or healthcare environment.
