Fire Safety AdvisorThe closing date is 22 December 2025This is an exciting opportunity to join the Health, Safety, Fire and Security team here at Great Western Hospital as a Fire Safety Advisor. This is a significantly important role to support the safety of all patients, staff and others who use our buildings.Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will provide fire risk assessments across a range of hospital buildings and healthcare premises. They will provide comprehensive fire safety advice and training to the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundations Trust, to ensure the organisation achieves compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Department of Health's suite of Technical Memoranda 'Firecode', and all other fire safety guidance, standards, and regulations. Whether at home, in the community, or within the hospital, our goal is to empower individuals to lead independent and healthier lives.Job responsibilitiesFor a detailed list of the main responsibilities and duties please see the Job Description attached.In summary,To provide fire safety advice to all staff and othersTo provide comprehensive and accurate fire related reportsTo complete fire risk assessments for all departments including clinical and non‑clinical areasTo develop and deliver fire safety training programmesSupport staff with their fire evacuation plans and other specialist fire safety documentsSupport the development of the Trust Fire Warden programmeTo maintain oversight of any fire risks on the Trust Risk RegisterPerson SpecificationQualificationsNEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety or equivalentLevel 5 certificated fire risk assessors' courseExperienceExperience of working in and providing fire safety advice within a large public sector organisationDelivering fire safety training with a minimum of three years experienceExtensive experience in writing complex and structured reports and documentsExperience in writing complex fire risk assessments for high risk buildingsKnowledgeIn‑depth knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and the Building Safety ActExtensive understanding of COSHH regulationsKnowledge of Health Technical Memoranda and experience in interpreting theseSkillsAble to communicate with staff at all levels in the organisation including Senior ManagersAble to develop the skills and knowledge of staff, including Senior Managers, to ensure they fully understand their responsibilities under fire safety legislationAble to develop and maintain communication with colleagues across different organisationsHighly developed IT skillsFlexible approach to problem solvingAble to work in other geographical areas of the TrustHighly motivated and willing to work autonomously and as part of a teamDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust£38,682 to £46,580 a year per annum pro rata #J-18808-Ljbffr
