University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust Maintenance Engineer Electrical Technician The closing date is 08 December 2025 The Estates Department provides a comprehensive maintenance, repair and installation service of the buildings, grounds, engineering services and associated equipment throughout the Trust. You must have served a recognised Electrical/Mechanical apprenticeship and gained a wide experience in building engineering services and plant maintenance plus relevant post apprenticeship training or equivalent experience. You must hold a current UK driving licence and reside within half an hour normal travel time to fulfil on‑call duties. The role is Monday – Friday with participation in an emergency on‑call rota plus opportunities for overtime and weekend working. Salary – Band 5 plus local RRP (£3,277 pa), with an approximate £1,000 pa on‑call retainer, overtime, 27 days holiday & voluntary pension scheme. Person Specification Other Full U.K driving licence. Qualifications CITB/EITB Apprenticeship or other approved training. Authorised/Responsible Person in one or more of the following specialisms: LV Electrical Systems, HV Electrical Systems, Heating and Ventilation Systems, Steam Systems, Decontamination, Safe Water Systems, Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS), Natural Gas Supplies, Confined Spaces. Experience Extensive practical knowledge of the electrical and/or mechanical in a complex building environment. Knowledge of all relevant legislation and technical guidance. Significant experience working in a complex engineering/builder environment. Ability to manage and deliver to deadlines and within resources. Knowledge of all relevant Health Technical Memoranda's (HTM's). Skills Ability to be intellectually flexible with keen attention to detail. A commitment to improving patient services through an ability to sustain a clear performance focus on achieving demanding goals. Good organisational skills. To be flexible and multi‑skilled to ensure the priorities of the service can be met. Able to work using own initiative and as part of a team. Knowledge of fault‑finding on relevant plant and equipment.
