Loss Prevention Specialist Full Time- 6 Month Contract

Overview Position Overview: The Asset Protection Specialist (APS) is primarily responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud, organized retail crime and supporting safety and environmental program compliance in their assigned store (s). The APS will drive execution of the Company’s internal and external theft and fraud strategy and utilize several tools to minimize loss to the Company. The APS must demonstrate integrity at all times, respond to and support key AP and operational concerns of all associates and remain focused on store specific business objectives. Key Responsibilities Building Relationships Communicate with APSS (Asset Protection Specialist Supervisor) and MAPM (Market Asset Protection Manager) on internal and external investigations and physical security within the store Maintain an open channel of communication with store management and all associates. Partner with store management to drive AP issues Drive a ‘Shrink Elimination’ culture within the store environment Participate in the In Focus program Compliance Detain and interview persons apprehended for shoplifting in accordance with local laws and company procedures Drive execution of store safety programs and validate compliance with company standards and policies. Validate environmental compliance to company standards. Check physical security of The Home Depot facilities to prevent and deter theft/fraudulent activity Write reports documenting apprehensions and recoveries, preserve evidence and interact with law enforcement Represent the Home Depot in a professional manner throughout all court-related procedures Build Skills and Knowledge Meet all Home Depot and AP training and certification requirements Create associate awareness for shrink issues related to internal and external theft, operational deficiencies and physical security Effectively support the AP Team Plan Effectively utilize CCTV and exception reports and audit the Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems Test building alarm system Conduct surveillance when required Set challenging objectives and communicate clear expectations Demonstrate a clear bias for action and a sense of urgency on priorities Take ownership of success/failures of initiatives and processes Understand and use financial indicators/metrics to measure the performance Decision Making and Doing the Right thing Use sound judgement and makes good decisions in a timely manner Treat internal customers (Home Depot Associates) with the highest level of responsiveness Demonstrate behaviors and work styles that are consistent with The Home Depot values Stand up for what is right in the face of opposition at any level Form and maintain effective partnerships across organizational boundaries to share information Safety expectations for this role are outlined under The Home Depot Canada Environmental Health & Safety Management system element under "Worker". Competencies Action Oriented Collaborates Communicates Effectively Customer Focus Drives Results Skills Communication and negotiate effectively with all levels inside and outside the organization Ability to analyze situations and resolve issues with innovation and creativity Proven ability to lead and drive complex projects to completion Exceptional Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office knowledge a must Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels Strong work ethic, sense of responsibility and confidentiality, with the ability to work independently Ability to accomplish multiple assigned tasks with minimal supervision Direct Manager/Direct Reports Reports to Asset protection Supervisor or District Asset Protection Manager Travel Requirements Some Travel Required Physical Requirements May involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving merchandise and tools, climbing a ladder Extended periods of standing and walking through out the store locations May involve quickly responding to public address system announcements, including customer services calls, pages, and general information Moving around the store and being able to communicate with and assist associates & customers Operating a computer and other technology Working Conditions Working within a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekends Warehouse environment that can be dusty and noisy Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes Minimum Education High School Diploma or GED Minimum Years of Work Experience 1+ year(s) experience as a retail-related Loss Prevention Investigator (or equivalent) preferred Minimum Leadership Experience NA Certifications Where applicable, Asset Protection associates are required to maintain a valid and up to date security guard license and/or private investigator license.
