Location and Duration Location: Cove Library, Aberdeen Duration: Permanent, Part Time Roles that require PVG Membership Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour)). The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first full month’s salary payment. The Role The Senior Library Assistant will lead and manage a team to deliver high quality, customer-focused library and learning services across Aberdeen. Timetable: Monday 9.45 – 1.00, 2.00 – 5.00Tuesday 9.45 – 1.00, 2.00 – 5.00Wednesday 1.00 – 4.30, 5.00 – 7.00Thursday 9.45 – 1.00, 2.00 – 5.00Friday 9.45 – 1.00, 2.00 – 5.00Saturday off The Post Holder Needs To Hold As a Minimum 4 National 5 passes at Grade A–C or equivalent, to include English and a Mathematics subject or equivalent PVG Membership for Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made Key Responsibilities Ability to lead and supervise a team. Ability to assist and support customers to use library services and facilities. Ability to solve problems. Confidence in cash handling and cash reconciliation.
