Job TypePermanent About the Hiscox Data TeamThe Hiscox Data Team is transforming data maturity across the organisation to accelerate business growth and efficiency using Data, Analytics, and AI. The virtual team consists of a central function driving alignment, Business Unit teams identifying commercial value and providing execution capacity and technology providing for Data Engineering and ML Operations services. We aim to empower colleagues by improving data fluency and promote a data-driven, insight-led culture that supports informed, customer-centric decisions. Role Overview The role is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Data Management component of the Data Strategy Action Plan to drive data innovation, enhance data fluency, improve data quality, and overall maximise data and analytics utilisation as a key value creator for Hiscox. Reporting to the Group Data Manager, the Senior Data Analyst supports data ownership and executive understanding of data’s value in operations and has expertise in core Data Management and Data Governance delivery. Key Responsibilities Support the ‘Lift and shift’ of an existing instance of Informatica Cloud Data Governance Catalogue (IDMC) to an enterprise deployment. Embed Data Ownership and accountability for data within the business. Assist Heads of Data and Business Units with discovery and delivery of Key Data Elements (KDEs), metadata capture, tagging, identification of appropriate Data Owners and Stewards, documentation of Data Lineage, and discovery of existing Data Quality rules. Manage Master and Reference data management. Support Data Forums and Working Groups for both Group and the Business Units. Implement and monitor Data Risks and Controls, proactively identifying, quantifying, monitoring, and mitigating data risks with remediation plans. Assess progress and success of data management components through metrics and outcomes. Foster strong professional relationships with Heads of Data and across the data community. Enable adoption and operationalisation of data capabilities by business units, ensuring compliance with the Hiscox Group Data Framework and associated standards. Support the Heads of Data in formulating Annual Data Plans and roadmaps aligned to the Group Data Strategy. Coordinate data-related aspects within the change framework for projects and manage third‑party vendors. Oversee business and technical scope of data requirements, ensuring alignment with the Data Strategy. Support the Group Data Manager in managing 3rd party suppliers delivering data services. Conduct Data Assessments of maturity and compliance with the Group Data Policy. Skills Broad experience in Data Analysis, Data Governance, MetaData Management, and Data Quality. Creative thinker with passion for new ideas and technologies. Flexible and adaptable to navigate complex challenges in a fast‑paced environment. Strong analytical skills to collect, analyse and interpret data to inform decision‑making. Commitment to continuous improvement and user experience enhancement. Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to convey complex ideas. Proven cross‑functional collaboration and communication of data value. Proficient change management, steering projects and embedding a culture of data‑driven decisions. Person Specification Experience configuring and deploying Informatica Data Catalogue and its IDMC components. Proven track record in Data Management and Data Governance within a complex environment. Effective communicator, adapting language to stakeholder knowledge level. Experience driving transformation in a matrix environment. Ability to define and describe best practice data management in simple terms. Strong operational experience across multiple data disciplines.
