Peterborough, United Kingdom Safer off the Streets Full time

Trustee - Volunteer role at Safer off the Streets. To support our work as a multi-agency charity, working across volunteer, faith, community and statutory organisations across Peterborough, supporting those who experience homelessness, to maximise effectiveness. What difference will you make? Those who experience homelessness are often misunderstood and may suffer drug, alcohol and mental health issues, many times brought on or exasperated by the stress of homelessness. By working to make Safer off the Streets an effective partnership of those organisations who directly support these individuals, you can help to directly reduce suffering across the city of Peterborough and support those who work within these important and often overlooked partner organisations, with the ultimate aim of reducing the numbers who have to resort to sleeping rough and suffering with long‑term homelessness. What are we looking for? Candidates will have one or more of the following skills: Communications & Campaigns Project Management IT & websites Charity fundraising Governance and administration Research of best practice Workshop facilitation Candidates may have: Lived experience of homelessness Experience of supporting adults with complex needs We are very keen to hear from candidates from diverse ethnic and social groups and of all ages, in particular from younger age groups, to ensure we have a well balanced trustee board representative of the City of Peterborough diversity. Our Trustees need to have drive, enthusiasm and the time to actively support our Partner organisations as we do not have a paid staff, whilst also taking on the responsibilities of a charity trustee. Activities will be varied to allow experience to build. Candidates should have compassion and empathy for those that experience homelessness, whilst being motivated to turn that compassion into positive action. What will you be doing? As we have no paid staff, our Trustees are very active in many areas such as communications, research, fundraising, networking and organising learning opportunities for our partners. We work to inform the public and raise awareness of the true nature of homelessness. We assist the City Council with strategic planning related to those experiencing homelessness, plus much more. Whilst we are not a direct delivery organisation to our clients themselves, our aim is to maximise the effectiveness and the collaboration between our partner organisations to the benefit of their clients. We arrange a quarterly partnership event in person with our Partners to help strengthen relationships and develop effective plans. During the last year, we have refreshed our Vision, Mission and Strategic Ambitions, which can be found in the “About Us” section of our website. We are seeking a trustee to act as our Company Secretary, assisting with Board meeting agendas and minutes, along with submitting returns to the Charity Commission and keeping us appraised of Charity Commission assistance available. We are seeking additional trustees to assist with IT management and security along with project and workshop facilitation, research and fundraising leadership. In short, our trustees need to be able to “make good stuff happen”. #J-18808-Ljbffr
