TeacherActive is proud to be working with a fantastic SEND school in Bristol, supporting their recruitment for a SEND Learning Support Assistant (SEND LSA). The school is dedicated to helping every pupil reach their full potential, focusing not only on academic progress but also on developing essential emotional, social, and behavioural skills.
This creative and inclusive setting provides a highly nurturing environment with small class sizes and a strong emphasis on individualised learning. The team is seeking a compassionate and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join them on a short-term basis, with the potential for this to develop into a long-term role for the right person. This position is ideal for someone with a background in care, youth work, or community support who understands the importance of patience, empathy, and positive relationships in helping young people thrive.
The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant will be working closely with students aged 4–19 with a range of additional needs, including ASD, SEMH, SLD, PMLD, and communication difficulties. You’ll support pupils both 1:1 and in small groups, creating a safe and engaging space where every learner feels valued and encouraged. You’ll bring a calm, understanding approach, offering practical assistance and emotional reassurance to help students build confidence, independence, and trust. In return, you’ll join a dedicated and supportive team, with access to professional development, flexible working arrangements, and the opportunity to make a genuine difference every day.
The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant will:

Be open to learning and committed to making a positive impact on pupils’ lives
Be confident supporting children with additional or complex needs
Be willing to assist with personal care and moving & handling when required
Build strong relationships with pupils, promoting trust and independence
Driving is highly desirable due to the location and nature of the role
Experience in an education or care setting is a bonus, but not essential
