Higher Level Teaching Assistant Summary An autism‑specialist school is recruiting a highly motivated HLTA to deliver technology sessions and support small group learning (approx. 5‑10 pupils) for autistic learners. This role involves teaching technology and digital skills, alongside broader support for adaptive curriculum delivery in a specialist environment. The Role In this role you will: Plan and teach technology‑based lessons tailored for autistic pupils, using interactive resources, digital tools and accessible project‑based tasks. Work with small groups of 5‑10 pupils, supporting them to engage with technology, develop skills and apply their learning. Collaborate closely with teaching staff, SEN team and support staff to adapt resources, scaffold learning and monitor progress. Provide supporting role in classroom settings beyond technology sessions, helping to embed independence, communication and engagement strategies across the day. The Ideal Person and Skills/Education Needed Holds HLTA certification or equivalent, and/or significant experience working in schools or specialist provision, especially with autistic learners. Has skills and interest in teaching technology, computing or digital media, and can adapt content for learners with autism and additional needs. Understands how to teach and support small groups, scaffold learning, employ visual supports, and create accessible tasks that match learners' levels and interests. Is patient, creative and enjoys finding out‑of‑the‑box ways to engage pupils who may learn differently. Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with colleagues, is committed to inclusive education, and values the development of each learner.
