White Stuff was established in 1985 through a simple idea. **Who you are**:
- A creative dress designer who understands White Stuffs handwriting and aesthetic.
- An innovative dress designer who can find the right balance between creativity and commerciality with a sense of humour in the product handwriting
- Able to create designs that are inspirational and unique, that surprise and delight our customer.
- Having experience of identifying seasonal trends and understanding how to work with the wider team to execute into on brand designs and translate these into production
**Primary objective of the job**:
- Working as part of the product team to deliver the product handwriting in tandem with the print design team, working into relevant dress trends and using new fabrics and trims delivering innovation and driving growth to meet business KPI’s.
- Create dress designs that offer newness, choice, and a cohesive handwriting throughout the seasons to ensure that White Stuff stands out from the crowd and is famous for its individuality, this is imperative to make the brand look and feel different, capture new customers in the UK and international markets.
**What you’ll be doing**:
- Demonstrate clear understanding of relevant White Stuff Brand DNA
- Create seasonal top-line trend boards / themes that are relevant to the White Stuff customer
- With Senior and Head of Design identify fashion must haves that are brand relevant to drive the brand forward
- Develop & identify new fabric bases with key suppliers that are on brand & within price architecture
- Visit trade shows & undertake sourcing trips as needed pulling together reports to ensure wider teams are aware of emerging trends & themes.
- Review competitor activity & feedback to wider team, react to this information to drive the brand forward
- From opportunities identified during research propose new product opportunities to drive the brand forward
- Create on brand unique design packs from sketch stage to ready to brief spec packs sharing with senior management at sketch & swatch sign offs
- Ensure the product range meets agreed quality standards & brand values by attending fit sessions & communicating clear instructions to suppliers
- Ensure all work is delivered in line with the critical path
- Plan options for the season with the wider team ensuring a balanced trend right range is delivered
- Create clear & concise range boards at sign off stage
Participate in regular team meetings actively sharing trend information & competitor activity
- Ensure effective communication at all levels both internally and externally
- Excellent presentation skills
**What you’ll need**:
- Relevant commercial experience working for a supplier or another retailer in a similar role
- Good organizational skills with experience of working at pace, meeting critical path deadlines.
- Excellent team player, resilient, pro-active and able to work creatively both autonomously when needed and as part of the wider design team.
- Fully CAD literate within Photoshop, Illustrator and PowerPoint.
- A great sense of shape and style.
- Relevant technical knowledge, with experience sourcing fabrics, both woven and jersey and trims, designing into key dress shapes that are commercial and on brand.
- Able to create factory ready work sheets, liaising directly with factories to ensure commercial yet creative proto samples are actioned.
- Good communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Always keeping our customer front of mind whilst developing and designing new products.
- Always striving to go the extra mileobsessing about the detail from concept through to product execution.
