**Key Duties & Tasks:**:**To manage a portfolio of suppliers with the aim of ensuring QCD performance**:**Build, follow-up and monitor sourcing action plans**:**To protect the supply chain by ensuring that suppliers have the capacity to supply quality product within acceptable lead times**:**Take the lead in Supplier Reduction Roadmap**:**Set up Supply Frame Agreements with strategic suppliers for production parts.**:**Set up item supplier relationships for non-strategic items, i.e unpredictable, irregular items**:**Identify suppliers to implement Consignment Stock, Kanban's and VSM’s based on their specific commodities**:**Manage external suppliers in the Vendor List and identify potential new suppliers**:**Volume analysis on consumed stock to ensure price breaks are set in appropriate places**:**Lead key Strategic Supplier Review meetings and cost reduction teams**:**Visit supplier premises as required to ensure goals and objectives are achieved**:**Take the lead in ensuring supplier selection is robust and justified**:**Take part in contract reviews for Overhaul Project Work.**:**Liaise with other departments and colleagues across the UK to meet individual and team objectives.**:**Work to Wabtec Faiveley procurement procedures.**:**Work closely with Material Planners and the Supply Chain team to maintain efficiency with both departments.**:**Undertake a variety of other activities as instructed, that are within a Buyer’s capabilities.**:**Operate with respect to Health and Safety at all times.**:**Take on any other reasonable responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee's skills and abilities.**:**Reports to Lead Buyer**:**Close working relationships with Material Planners, Quality, Engineering and Business Managers**:**Education & Qualifications**
**5 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade A including English Language and Mathematics**
**Graduate status**

**Skills, Knowledge & Experience**
**Excellent communication skills**
**Good knowledge of purchasing best practices**
**Business/Customer orientated**
**Performance orientated**
**Attention to detail**
**Mobile with valid UK driving license**
**Commercial awareness**
**Strong planning and organisational skills**
**Ability to read and understand technical drawings and BOMs**
**Experience of cost-effective purchasing and supplier management**
**Use of ERP/MRP systems**
**CIPS qualified or working towards..**
**Experience in the Rail Industry**
**Discrete and diplomatic manner, demonstrating impartiality of judgment.**
**Can-do attitude**

**Other requirements**
**Able to attend some meetings out of normal office hours and travel to supplier.**
