**Head of Operations - Environment**

**Severn Trent Region (Midlands)**

**What you will be doing**:
An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Operations to join the team at Galliford Try.

You will work on our Severn Trent Frameworks within our Environment Business, who are experienced in successfully delivering schemes of varying sizes, predominately to the Water Industry, across both Treatment Waste and Water schemes.

Ideally, you will based in or around the Severn Trent Region, our Regional Office is based at Annesley, Nottinghamshire.

As Head of Operations, you will lead and manage an experienced team to ensure that all projects within the region are being delivered proactively and efficiently. By implementing a combination of change management techniques and governance you will work with the Head of Delivery to provide a clear focus on obligations, value for money and programme delivery. You will be a senior leader with co-ownership of a £70M portfolio of works that consists of multiple projects containing Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines. Operating within the water sector you will be conversant with the NEC 4 contracting model.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Overseeing projects from the Design Phase you will:

- Monitor progress, oversee finance and ensure we maintain a proactive culture throughout project delivery.
- Make strategic project decisions and provide the leadership and direction to the project teams that enable the implementation of those decisions.
- Provide credible challenge to project and portfolio Risks/Opportunities/Assumptions and work with the client and GT project teams to ensure that these are managed to a satisfactory outcomes.
- Identify key levers that influence profitability and develop project/program plans which activate those levers.
- Be a focal point for project escalation issues and be expected to give leadership and direction around those issues, both with GT and within the client.
- Drive proactive project governance.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- Technically familiar with turnkey projects within the water sector.
- First class project and programme management capabilities able to showcase a track record of delivering to client’s expectations.
- Ability to interrogate Cost and Programme data to develop improvement plans.
- Proven experience in successfully managing multiple teams and contributing to their professional development.
- Expertise in developing a performance culture.
- Advanced communication skills adept at interfacing with multiple stakeholders both internal & external.
- Strong knowledge of CDM 15.
- Excellent knowledge of NEC and commercially astute.
- Proven leadership and delegation skills.

**Technical / Professional Qualifications Required**
- MSc or Degree Qualified in a Relevant competence.
- Member of a Relevant Professional Institute
- APM (desired)
- ILM Level 7 or above Leadership and Management Qualification.
