Position Overview:

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Heading Setter/Operator. This position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Arranging appropriate tool sets and material according to works order and details for next job on Cold Heading Machine.
  2. Preparation and submission of suitable first off samples for QC approval.
  3. Proper use, maintenance and housekeeping of hand tools, gauges, and machines in his/her charge.
  4. Reporting of any defects or suspected defects in tools, hand tools, gauges, machines or wire to the controlling department.
  5. Maintain maximum possible output observing production speeds appropriate for each job.
  6. Weighing off and related record upkeep.
  7. Keeping of accurate routing records (Quality, Quantity and Materials).
  8. To assist management and staff in the identification, and introduction of all reasonable measures to improve productivity, quality and working methods and conditions as part of the zero defect continual improvement and Top Line Targets.
  9. To receive appropriate training.
  10. Maintain safe working practices and observe Health & Safety regulations in accordance with Company Policy & current legislation at all times.
  11. To ensure that the Dept maintains a high standard of Housekeeping (cleanliness of workspace and related areas) throughout.
  12. Maintain environmental controls according to current legislation, Company procedures and good practice.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  1. 'O' Levels or GCSE Grade 4/D in: Mathematics, English
  2. OND or ONC Engineering (Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing or equivalent)
  3. Technical Training course at BIFF Skills Centre.
  4. Setting and operation of Roll-forming machines of various types.
  5. Fault detection.
  6. Communication.
  7. Reading Engineering drawings.
