We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Risk Assurance Officer to join our team The role can be flexibly based in one of our UK offices which include Bedford, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Guildford or Exeter. We operate a hybrid working model and you may be required to travel to other sites as part of your role.

You will assist the Head of Corporate Risk by providing a responsive and helpful assurance service for the company's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework, including the effectiveness of the control environment in place to mitigate identified risks. This will be delivered through provision of ongoing support and guidance in line with our Corporate Risk Management Policy, assurance assignments including National Highways Management Assurance process and assurance mapping.

What you'll be leading on

  • Providing ad hoc, objective and practical support and advice to management/stakeholders on risk management arrangements in line with the Corporate Risk Management Policy.
  • Providing challenge, support and value-add insight to the business on all matters relating to risk and risk management.
  • Leading small teams to deliver specific assignments or as part of the delivery of the risk strategy, ensuring that professional standards are adhered to and that outputs are of high quality.
  • Contributing to the recording and monitoring of assurance activities aligned to the four lines of assurance model, against our key and emerging principal risks.
  • Contributing to the management of stakeholder relations and expectations with staff and managers at all levels, including Executive Directors and the Board.
  • Delivering the National Highways Management Assurance process to meet the needs of the Board and Department for Transport.

To be successful you'll need

  • Qualified, or part qualified risk management professional (Institute of Risk Management or equivalent) or chartered internal auditor (CMIIA), or equivalent working experience.
  • Experience of understanding complex environments, including company processes and policies, and how they inter-relate.
  • Experience of analysing and conveying complex and challenging information to a variety of audiences, including senior management.
  • Knowledge of audit and risk management principles and methodologies.
  • Experience of working with Risk Management systems or other RM database applications is desirable.
