Job Title: Fostering Recruitment and Enquiry Administrator / Officer (SO1)
Location: Lewisham Council (Hybrid, 3 days in the office per week)
Pay Rate: £23 per hour
Contract Type: Maternity Cover (31st March 2025 - 29th June 2025, with potential extension until March 2026)
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00

Role Overview:
Lewisham Council is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Fostering Recruitment and Enquiry Administrator / Officer to join their team on a maternity leave cover basis. This is a crucial administrative role where you will assist in the recruitment and support of foster carers within the borough. The position is hybrid, offering flexibility with 3 days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the fostering recruitment process for Lewisham Council.
  • Handle enquiries from prospective foster carers via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Facilitate fostering events and provide information to potential carers.
  • Coordinate reference and background checks as part of the fostering assessment.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records using Microsoft Excel and internal file management systems.
  • Work with community groups and stakeholders to raise awareness of fostering opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding, equal opportunities, and data protection policies.
  • Track and monitor fostering assessment processes in line with regulatory requirements.

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Strong administrative skills with experience in data management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with online community facilitation tools and social media.
  • Familiarity with the fostering recruitment process is preferable but not essential.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work within safeguarding frameworks.
  • Prior customer service experience and the ability to engage with diverse groups.
