Job Title: Mechanical & Electrical Manager - Retail Site

Location: Thurrock

Base Salary: £48,696.00 (Pro Rata)

Contract Type: 3 Month Fixed Term Contract - Potential to go permanent for the right candidate

Hours: 40 hours a week - Monday to Friday

Our client, a national leader in the facilities management space, is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Manager to integrate into their successful retail team.

Job Purpose

This is a key position, managing a team of project managers to effectively deliver various Mechanical & Electrical projects within a defined retail site, within agreed timescales and budgets whilst complying with company policy and procedure. The position will have 5 direct reports and the successful candidate must have excellent people management skills. This role looks after 1 site in Thurrock and a 2nd site just down the road.

Key Accountabilities:
  1. Representing the company in a professional and competent manner at all times and developing strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
  2. Liaison with the Electrical Qualifying Manager & Project Managers to ensure effective handover is undertaken at the outset of the contract.
  3. Reviewing the project programme with Project Managers to discuss all requirements for labour resource required to deliver the project.
  4. Ensuring that all projects are managed in accordance with the HSE Management system framework and procedures.
  5. Using the issued budget sheet to procure relevant approved subcontract labour.
  6. Continuous liaison with clients to ensure that projects are delivered to agreed specifications.
  7. Ensuring the Project Health & Safety file, including operating and maintenance instructions is made available at the time of handover and/or practical completion.
  8. Undertaking site visits to ensure projects are installed in compliance with the installation specification and design criteria.
  9. Ensuring the completion of all site test certificates and providing these to the Project Manager for the O&M Manual and Project handover.
  10. Obtaining copies of Internal H&S Audits and ensuring that the individual site team's close out identified non-conformances within the timescales required.
  11. Completing site H&S checks to ensure that all paperwork is being filed in compliance with company procedures.
  12. Ensuring all risk assessments & method statements are relevant and being adhered to.
  13. Undertaking site audits with the Project Manager prior to final account stage to ensure completed works reflect project specifications.
  14. Undertaking and returning all evaluation scorecards in relation to the project.
  15. The management, development and motivation of their team of direct reports including the assessment and monitoring of job performance and where necessary, facilitating the company disciplinary and/or grievance procedure in conjunction with the Human Resources Department.
  16. Attending M&E Implementation Group Meetings.
KPI's
  1. Submission of monthly operational report to Head of Mechanical & Electrical.
  2. Delivery of annual Performance Appraisals.
  3. Achieve and maintain 100% H & S and job-related competence for team of direct reports.
  4. Quality of work - site snagging issues resolved within a maximum period of 6 days.
  5. Site Health & Safety non-conformances - closed out within 5 working days.
  6. Management of labour costs within budget.
  7. Management of Plant and vehicle costs within budget.
  8. Delivery of forecasted project profit levels.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  1. Strong working Mechanical & Electrical knowledge, ideally within a retail environment.
  2. Managing engineers/ electrical/ mechanical is essential.
  3. Strong experience with PPM management.
  4. The ideal candidate will be someone that is process driven, compliance, team and people management, planning schedules.
  5. Technical background would be ideal.
  6. Experience managing all M&S on site, including plant scheduling and compliance.
  7. This will be a hands-on role and will not be just sat in an office.
