Teaching Assistant – PRU – WalsallAre you a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people who have faced barriers to education? This specialist PRU in Walsall is looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1-2-1 support for students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours. This is a rewarding opportunity to help students re-engage with learning in a structured and supportive environment.As a Teaching Assistant in this setting, you will work closely with teaching staff and the pastoral team to support students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education. You will play a vital role in helping students to regulate their emotions, manage behaviour, and develop the confidence they need to succeed both academically and socially.Job Role:Providing 1-2-1 support for students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.Building strong, positive relationships to help students feel safe and supported.Supporting students to self-regulate and develop positive coping strategies.Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management.Delivering targeted interventions to help students re-engage with learning.Managing behaviour using de-escalation strategies and clear boundaries.Working closely with the pastoral team to support students’ emotional well-being.Recording progress and incidents and feeding back to teaching staff and leaders. Requirements:Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviours.Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, LSA, or in a similar role.A calm, patient, and resilient approach.Strong communication and relationship-building skills.The ability to work effectively as part of a team.A commitment to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable students.In return, you will enjoy:Working in a supportive PRU with a strong pastoral focus.Ongoing support from experienced leaders and staff.Access to training and CPD to develop your skills.A long-term opportunity in a rewarding setting.Competitive rates of pay and support from The Education Network.If you are interested in this Teaching Assistant opportunity, please “Apply Now” or contact Harry at The Education Network Birmingham.
