Triple West Medical have been appointed by an NHS Trust based in South West England to help recruit an experienced Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for a substantive position, but will also consider a Locum Fixed Term Contract for 12 Months min. The Trust provides a full range of general acute hospital services for people living in and around the local region. With over 7,500 staff, they provide high quality care to over 550,000 local people. They operate via multiple sites and pride themselves on high quality patient care. The post-holder will be an experienced obstetrician who will join the current team to provide specialist maternal medicine Obstetrics services, as well as delivery suite sessions and on-call, together with appropriate teaching and supervision of junior doctors and medical students. They will be expected to work closely with the regional maternal medicine network, general practitioners, midwifery colleagues, allied health professionals, Obstetric, anaesthetic and neonatal staff to provide a seamless service and deliver high quality outcomes within national targets.This is a new post to support the expansion of consultant Obstetricians in the unit, with a particular emphasis on diabetes. The post holder will also be the obstetric antenatal leadMain duties of the job- The provision of high-quality care in all clinical settings, including delivery suite, obstetric triage, obstetric theatre and antenatal clinics- To support the clinical decision making of junior medical and nursing staff- To provide on call support out of hours and to attend the Department out of hours as per agreed protocols- The post holder will participate in a 1/12 weekday and weekend non-resident on call rota for obstetrics.- To participate in the undergraduate teaching programme from both the University and the newly established Medical School.- To assist and participate with the development of postgraduate training for doctors in training.- To promote evidence-based practice.- To participate in and develop Quality Improvement projects.- To respond appropriately to national guidance and reports including undertaking and supervising gap analyses and guideline change, with particular reference to Obstetric Medicine.- The post-holder will be encouraged to be active in ongoing clinical researchOur NHS Client is happy to issue Certificate of Sponsorships to suitably qualified overseas doctors.
