Credit Risk Strategy Analyst

Join us as a Credit Risk Strategy Analyst and drive value through appropriate Risk Management of relevant credit risk analytics and strategies for the Barclays Payments Small Business Issuing portfolio (BPI). These activities include development and optimisation of credit risk strategies and processes with accountability for driving profitability and growing the portfolio within the defined risk appetite, tracking and monitoring of BPI credit risk strategy performance, providing insights and recommending improvements.Essential Skills:Practical experience of using analytics to solve complex business problemsPassionate about data analysis and how this contributes to the businessAdvanced understanding of standard statistical package (SAS/SQL essential) and ExcelDesirable skills:Background in Credit RiskBachelors/Masters degree in Statistics, Mathematics or Operational Research would be advantageousExperience using PythonYou may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills This role is based in London or Northampton Purpose of the roleTo safeguard the financial health of the bank by identifying, analysing, and mitigating potential credit risks associated with lending activities.AccountabilitiesAnalysis of financial data, including income, assets, liabilities, credit history, and economic trends, to determine the risk of default.Monitoring of existing loan portfolios to identify potential credit deterioration or early warning signs of default.Recommendation of loan approvals, rejections, or adjustments based on risk evaluation and bank lending policies.Development and implementation of credit risk mitigation strategies, including collateral management, loan restructuring, and workout plans.Analyst ExpectationsTo perform prescribed activities in a timely manner and to a high standard consistently driving continuous improvement.Requires in-depth technical knowledge and experience in their assigned area of expertiseThorough understanding of the underlying principles and concepts within the area of expertiseThey lead and supervise a team, guiding and supporting professional development, allocating work requirements and coordinating team resources.If the position has leadership responsibilities, People Leaders are expected to demonstrate a clear set of leadership behaviours to create an environment for colleagues to thrive and deliver to a consistently excellent standard.
