Job Description

Purpose of the role

To safeguard the financial health of the bank by identifying, analysing, and mitigating potential credit risks associated with lending activities.

Accountabilities

  • Analysis of financial data, including income, assets, liabilities, credit history, and economic trends, to determine the risk of default.
  • Monitoring of existing loan portfolios to identify potential credit deterioration or early warning signs of default.
  • Recommendation of loan approvals, rejections, or adjustments based on risk evaluation and bank lending policies.
  • Development and implementation of credit risk mitigation strategies, including collateral management, loan restructuring, and workout plans.

Join us as a Credit Risk Strategy Analyst and drive value through appropriate Risk Management of relevant credit risk analytics and strategies for the Barclays Payments Small Business Issuing portfolio (BPI). These activities include development and optimisation of credit risk strategies and processes with accountability for driving profitability and growing the portfolio within the defined risk appetite, tracking and monitoring of BPI credit risk strategy performance, providing insights and recommending improvements.

Essential Skills:

  • Practical experience of using analytics to solve complex business problems

  • Passionate about data analysis and how this contributes to the business

  • Advanced understanding of standard statistical package (SAS/SQL essential) and Excel

Desirable skills:

  • Background in Credit Risk

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Statistics, Mathematics or Operational Research would be advantageous

  • Experience using Python
