As they continue to grow and take on high-profile projects, they are committed to supporting employees with development opportunities in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.About the Training & Competency Manager role This role is ideal for a highly organised and experienced professional to lead training and competency programmes across the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining technical competence frameworks, delivering training programmes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety-critical standards.The key responsibilities for the Training & Competency Manager role are: Develop, implement, and maintain technical competency frameworks for staffDesign and deliver training programmes using practical, classroom, and e-learning methodsBuild and maintain competency matrices and learning pathways (Trainee → Competent → Senior → Specialist)Manage certifications, authorisations, licences, and safety-critical competenciesRun assessments, observations, and accreditation processes to ensure competence is maintainedMonitor training compliance and prepare reports for management and regulatorsImplement and maintain Training Management Systems (TMS) or Learning Management Systems (LMS)Work closely with operational teams to identify training needs and continuous improvement opportunitiesEnsure all training and competency activities meet industry regulatory and compliance standards Essential skills and experience required for the Training & Competency role are: Minimum 5 years’ experience in training and competency management, ideally within rail or asset examination/inspectionStrong understanding of asset examination/inspection processesKnowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for safety-critical staffExperience designing and delivering technical training materialsProven ability to manage certifications, authorisations, licences, and competency assessmentsSkilled in building competency matrices and learning pathwaysExperience implementing and running TMS or LMS platforms Desirable skills and experience required for the Training & Competency Manager role are: Experience in rail, highways, or asset management sectorsExperience designing e-learning modules and blended learning programmes
