client/child: Megan aged 6, loves watching the children’s series Bing, listening to music, swimming, sensory play and playing with her younger brother. Megan has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and a PEG in situ for all her nutrition, fluid, and medication. She is non-verbal and has recently started exploring Grid Player to support her communication and help make choices. Megan’s home is fully adapted to meet all her needs, and she has a care team in place providing around-the-clock support. She is a full-time wheelchair user. Megan’s team leader is going on maternity leave in February 2024, and we are looking for a Support Worker with experience in complex care to join the team which will include a full hand-over and transition period starting in the New Year. This is a full time permanent position offering 5 days per week for 1 year and then reducing to 4 days per week thereafter. Overview of role: Megan attends school, so during term-time requires support in the mornings and afternoon: to then to In the morning the Support Worker will complete a handover with the waking night carer and support Megan to get ready for school and complete the school run, then return to the family home to prep for the afternoon, including general tidy of Megan’s bedroom, bathroom etc., organise her therapy room, and update daily logs via Log My Care. The afternoon activities will depend on what is in Megan’s schedule, and we are keen for her Support Worker to bring new ideas and research activities Megan can participate in and enjoy. The Support Worker will have the opportunity to work alongside Megan’s MDT therapy team and implement her programmes with guidance. Megan is reliant on others to meet all her care needs, so the Support Worker will be confident supporting in all areas of ADLs, including personal care. It is important that Megan is continuously monitored for choking risk, seizures and/or illness. It is essential that you are a confident driver, a non-smoker/vaper.
