Mental Health Assistant Bristol Are you looking to kick-start your career in the Mental Health Sector? Are you looking for a role where you can support the mental health of young people? Are you passionate about restorative approaches and demonstrating the value of education to vulnerable children? A well-respected specialist school near Bristol is looking for a Mental Health Assistant to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The students, aged between 7 and 16 years old, face a range of SEMH challenges, including trauma, anxiety, OCD, and behavioural issues. Some children have suffered adverse childhood experiences, and you will work to identify their risks and needs, escalating where necessary. Many of the children face various barriers in life and are at higher risk of negative outcomes. You will be instrumental in building relationships, providing consistency, and equipping children and young people with tools to ensure they feel safe, secure, and empowered—helping them believe they can succeed in life and reducing the risk of them entering the criminal justice system. The students need a Mental Health Assistant who will be a dedicated, consistent role model, committed to building strong relationships, empathetic, and ready for a challenge. The ideal candidate will be open-minded, resilient, and knowledgeable about mental health. Experience working with SEN children and/or adults in any setting is highly beneficial. Graduates in Social Care, Psychology, Criminology, or Counselling would be perfect for this position. Being local to Bristol is a bonus. Based on holistic and therapeutic practices with a focus on restorative approaches, this role will provide essential experience in education and training in anti-social and challenging settings. If you are looking to kick-start your career in Psychology, Mental Health, Law Enforcement, or Education, this is the perfect opportunity for you. You will gain invaluable experience in education and training and make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people who need it most. This position also offers the opportunity to further your skills in education and training, focusing on the development of strategies and methods for improving mental health outcomes for young people. You will help implement effective restorative practices that can be applied across education and training environments. Start date: ASAP £90-£100 per day, Mon-Fri, 8.30 am - 4 pm, term time only Excellent on-site training, support, and CPD are provided to ensure safeguarding of all students You MUST have the right to work in the UK to apply – no Visa sponsorship Must be able to travel to Bristol and surrounding areas Mental Health Assistant – Bristol – SEN Support - Education and Training
