We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit Senior Clinical Fellow in Acute Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Medicine department.Our client's ambulatory areas are designated areas located within our two emergency villages which as used to identify, investigate and manage those emergency admission arriving in AE or from primary care providers (at their site) who can be managed and discharged with a plan within 8 hour period. These patients ideally are those who will not need inpatient admissions and so would thus facilitate admission avoidance and relieve the strain experienced by our accident and emergency department. A number of designated pathways and processes underpin the clinic decision making done by our senior clinical decision makers in the ambulatory area. At both sites, our client aims for direct consultant input in the ambulatory area facilitates the effectiveness of these areas and we hope that all new members to the team will embrace this.Their medical assessment units are designed in a zonal set up which in future will allow developments such as frailty or high intensity care areas with individuals with monitoring. The aim is to facilitate prompt clinical decision making with real time post taking to make sure that the a clear plan is formulated to establish the mantra of the ‘right patient, right bed, under right specialty if required' and that within 72hr period from EDD (estimated date of discharge), that the patient reaches the right destination be it home, ward bed and other discharge destinations. Their acute medicine unit is an area for education and learning with medical students, advanced care practitioners, nursing staff, physician associates and other allied health care advisors working, learning and collaborating on a daily basis.The post-holder will provide registrar-level experience in a teaching hospital with all the main medical sub-specialities, this role would particularly suit doctors who have completed CMT and also individuals with equivalent experience who are looking to progress to specialty training and also for those looking to go down the non-consultant career grade or SAS route. The clinical fellow will be an integral part of the junior medical workforce involved in the clerking and management of all patients in our acute medicine and ambulatory environment. The post is for 12 months and will provide excellent training in the management of the common and important presentation normally seen in acute medical setting and give insight into the management of acute ill patients. The post would be an excellent preparation for specialist training post. The successful candidate will undertake the following roles: Clerking of acute medical patients in both ambulatory and medical assessment unit, Clinical reviews of patients on both the ambulatory unit and medical assessment unit, Participating in daily ward round on medical assessment unit, Assisting on the real time post take ward rounds with senior decision makers in accident and emergency, medical assessment unit and ambulatory unit & The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in continuous improvement projects, education and audit.Our client is based in a very desirable part of North West England in a unique blend of rural and urban living.
