West Sussex, United Kingdom Snap Childcare Full time

client/child: Lucy is 6 years old and lives with her mummy. She already has a small and committed team around her, who she loves to be with. Lucy is non-verbal but very head strong; she knows exactly what she wants and does not want She loves cuddles and adores being around people who can make her laugh and when you do, she is very vocal and an utter joy to work with. Lucy likes to watch videos on her iPad; one of her favourite programmes to watch is Melvin and the Chipmunks Lucy has Tetraplegic Cerebral Palsy, severe developmental delay in terms of motor and language abilities. She has a Tracheostomy in situ and is fed via a Gastrostomy tube. Overview of role: The evening shift begins at pm when you will assist Mum (the second carer) with Lucy’s bed bath, physiotherapy, and positioning ready for sleep time. Her feed is prepared and set up, along with a nebulizer. You have a comfy chair beside Lucy’s bed and access to a toilet and kitchen. Sometimes Lucy will sleep quite well through the night, but there will also be nights when she requires gentle reassurance if awake. There are duties, such as making sure all equipment related to feeding is sterilised, but most important is staying alert, and making sure Lucy is safe and feels secure. Mornings depend on how Lucy’s night was. If she wakes before am, you and mum will get Lucy up and dressed, ready for school pick-up, but occasionally if still asleep, the daytime support worker will take over the morning routine. Who this job would suit: A *female support worker who has experience in waking nights, but also sensibility, and emotional empathy when working within a home environment. You must be upbeat and a ‘bit silly’, to bring out the fabulousness which is Lucy What’s great about this job: Along with mandatory training and ongoing supervision, there is nurse-led, bespoke training, related to stoma and tracheostomy care. Lucy and her mummy are superstars, so if you are fortunate enough to join them you will experience tremendous job satisfaction. Who is recruiting for this role?
