Job description Attendance Officer – SEMH School | Tooting, Southwest London Prospero Teaching is recruiting an Attendance Officer to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Tooting, Southwest London. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting pupil attendance and engagement across the school. Job Details Role: Attendance Officer Start Date: September 2025 (Immediate start/trials available) Contract Type: Long-term with the potential to become permanent Working Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM Location: Tooting, Southwest London Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience Parking: On-site parking available About the School This specialist SEMH school supports boys aged 5-19 with a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school provides a therapeutic, supportive, and structured environment, tailored to help pupils re-engage with learning. Responsibilities Monitor and track student attendance data daily Follow up on absences through calls, emails, and home visits where necessary Work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to improve attendance Maintain accurate records and produce regular attendance reports Support safeguarding procedures in relation to student absence What We’re Looking For Experience in school administration, attendance, or pastoral roles Excellent communication, organisation, and IT skills Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality procedures Calm, confident, and empathetic approach – especially in challenging situations Experience working in SEN, SEMH, PRU, or alternative education settings is highly desirable Essential Requirements Right to work in the UK Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (Child & Adult Workforce) Two recent and relevant references If you’re passionate about supporting vulnerable pupils and improving school attendance, this is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a specialist SEMH setting.
