If you’re someone who stays calm when things get loud and knows how to connect with young people who find school tough, this could be the perfect role for you.We’re working with a specialist SEND school in Gateshead that supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. They’re looking for a steady, patient and confident Behavioural Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil who needs consistency, reassurance and someone who genuinely believes in them.Every day will be different, but you’ll play a huge part in helping a young person feel safe, understood and ready to learn.What your day might look like: • Providing 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs • Helping them regulate emotions and manage difficult moments • Using de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour strategies • Supporting learning in and out of the classroom • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams • Celebrating every bit of progress, no matter how smallWe’d love to hear from you if you have: • Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour • A calm, grounded approach and the ability to build trust • Strong communication skills and resilience • A genuine interest in SEMH and trauma-informed practice • Experience in youth work, care, mentoring or educationWhat you get with Protocol Education: • Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella deductions • A dedicated consultant who supports you from day one • FREE online training, including behaviour, de-escalation and mental health courses • Opportunities across SEND, SEMH and alternative provision • Quick and friendly registration • Referral rewards when you recommend friendsIf this sounds like the role for you please send across your CV and we can get you ready for your next roleAll applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
