We are looking for Children's Support and Personal Care Workers to join our team and assist with day-to-day support for adolescence service users within Hertfordshire County Council Residential and Supported Living Units.About the RoleWe are seeking competent care assistants to support adolescence people with physical and/or mental challenges in their everyday lives, enabling independence wherever possible. Our service users have varying needs, including:Mild to severe learning disabilitiesMental health difficultiesSensory impairmentsDysphagia and epilepsyThe fulfilment and satisfaction that comes with helping others surpasses the challenges of this job. If you are compassionate, positive, and not afraid to work hard, this is the role for you.Key ResponsibilitiesYour duties will depend on the needs of the child you care for and may include:Assisting with washing and dressingPreparing meals and helping with feedingCarrying out household tasks: shopping, tidying, cleaning, laundryBuilding positive relationships and understanding individual needs and interestsMonitoring health and weight, recording any concernsFollowing care plans, routines, guidelines, risk assessments, and Behaviour Management PlansEnsuring prescribed medications are taken and administering medication (training provided)Supporting mental and physical wellbeing through activitiesAssisting with physical therapy exercisesWorking collaboratively with social care and healthcare professionalsProviding mobility support: moving and handling, hoistingActing quickly and responsibly in emergenciesSkills & QualificationsSensitivity and understanding of people's needsAbility to carry out household chores and cook nutritious mealsPatience and ability to remain calm under pressureExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAttention to detail and strong organisational skillsAbility to work well under pressure and with different types of peopleExperience RequirementsMinimum 6 months' experience working with vulnerable adolescence people in a care home, hospital, or charity settingAdvanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check requiredPrevious childcare experience essentialAdditional InformationTraining and annual refresher training provided and paid for by Guidant GlobalYou must be able to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writingAccess to transport is essential to travel between sites across HertfordshireIf you are passionate about supporting adolescence people and want a role that truly matters, apply today and join our team
