We are currently supporting an impressive business based in Sheffield as they look to recruit an Assistant Manager within the accountancy firm. This role will be responsible for preparing accounts, reviewing VAT and tax returns, and acting as a senior member of the team, supporting junior colleagues. You will support the Director with ad hoc tasks, meaning this is the perfect step up for someone looking to progress

Main duties/responsibilities:

Reviewing the quarterly VAT returns Maintaining own client base for quarterly VAT portfolio, to ensure records are requested, received and processed in time and the filing deadlines met Preparing year end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships for manager review, this will include balance sheet reconciliations, for example of bank accounts, PAYE, VAT, corporation tax, directors loan accounts etc. Preparing self-assessment tax returns for limited company directors, sole traders, clients with rental properties or other reasons for filing a return Managing own workloads, prioritising deadlines and liaising with manager/director of the department Assisting manager/director with ad hoc tasks, specifically HMRC enquiries Training and assisting junior members of the team

You will have:

Strong experience within an accountancy practice Qualified by experience or AAT qualified / part-qualified ACA/ACCA Experience with accountancy software such as Xero/Quickbooks/IRIS (preferable)
