Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading food processing organisation on the appointment of a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager.As the Health, Safety & Environmental Manager, you will take ownership of all site-based Health, Safety and Environmental activities, ensuring legal compliance, maintaining standards, and driving a culture of continuous improvement. Working closely with senior management and operational teams, you will provide guidance, training, and hands-on leadership to maintain a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible operation.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HSE professional to join a high-performing business and play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture and sustainable environmental performance across the site.In your new role:Advising site management and employees on all Health, Safety and Environmental matters, ensuring compliance with legislation and company policiesLeading safety and environmental meetings, audits, and inspections, ensuring that actions and improvements are implemented effectivelyCoordinating workplace risk assessments and developing safe systems of work in collaboration with department managersManaging accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, ensuring effective root cause analysis and follow-upMaintaining and improving site HSE management systems, including ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS)Ensuring statutory records, permits, and fire safety documentation are maintained and up to dateLiaising with enforcement authorities, insurers, and auditors, maintaining positive working relationshipsPreparing and submitting HSE reports, metrics, and performance data to senior managementOverseeing waste management processes to ensure compliance and environmental best practiceSupporting and promoting sustainability initiatives across the businessWhat you will need to succeed:NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma (or equivalent qualification)Experience in an HSE management role, ideally within manufacturing, food processing, or a similar regulated environmentStrong knowledge and experience of ISO 14001 Environmental Management SystemsIn-depth understanding of UK Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and best practiceExcellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to engage teams at all levelsStrong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure and to deadlinesIT proficiency (MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):Experience working within the food production or FMCG sectorKnowledge of environmental permitting, waste management legislation and sustainability reportingAdditional environmental or safety qualifications (e.g. IEMA membership or NEBOSH Environmental Certificate)For a more detailed brief and a confidential conversation on how Vickerstock can help support you with your next move, get in touch with Sam Geddis, our Health and Safety Specialist today.
