Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Mentor to join our team at a local college. This is a permanent position aimed at supporting students with learning difficulties and disabilities, empowering them to achieve greater independence and success in their studies.

Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with subject lecturers and assessors to support students in various learning environments, including both classroom and off-site settings.

* Assist students in accessing curricula by adapting resources such as enlarging text, using enabling technologies, and offering note-taking or word processing support.

* Empower students to meet their personalised learning outcomes, including those outlined in Education, Health, and Care Plans.

* Provide support beyond the classroom, including during breaks, lunchtimes, and on pre-arranged trips.

* Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and support activities using the Pro-monitor system.

* Support therapy interventions such as Physiotherapy or Speech and Language Therapy under professional guidance.

* Participate in team meetings, contribute to continuous improvement in learning support, and attend annual review meetings when required.

* Identify and address students' support needs by referring them to learner services or safeguarding teams as appropriate.

* Undertake training and development activities as agreed with the Learning Support Manager.

Requirements:

* GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).

* Recent experience supporting individuals with special educational needs.

* High level of empathy, sensitivity, and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

* Computer literacy and ability to adapt to various digital learning tools.

* Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Desirable Criteria:

* Level 2 Learning Support Qualification (or working towards it).

* Experience working with young people in an educational setting.

* Familiarity with assistive technologies and sighted-guiding experience.

Special Conditions:
This role is defined as regulated activity and requires an enhanced DBS check deemed acceptable to the college, with re-checks every four years.
