Teaching Assistant - Reception Class (1:1 Support - Teaching Assistant)

A fantastic primary school in the Haringey Borough of North London is seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a young boy in their Reception class. The child requires additional support to manage high emotional needs, and this role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a nurturing school environment.

This Teaching Assistant position is ideal for individuals with EYFS experience, although it is not essential, as the school values a proactive and empathetic approach above all.

Key Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant:

Provide 1:1 tailored support for a Reception pupil with high emotional needs, helping them build confidence and emotional resilience.
Assist with implementing strategies to support emotional regulation and positive engagement in learning activities.
Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SEN team to create a structured and supportive environment.
Foster a sense of inclusion, encouraging the child to participate in class and social activities.
Step in to support the wider class where necessary, contributing to a positive learning atmosphere.

Ideal Candidate for the Teaching Assistant Role:

Experience working in an EYFS setting is preferred but not mandatory.
A calm, nurturing, and patient individual with a passion for supporting children's development.
Confidence to adapt quickly, use initiative, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Previous experience supporting children with high emotional needs, Autism, or other additional needs is advantageous.
Must hold an Enhanced DBS or be willing to process one through Reeson Education.
