Job summary An exciting opportunity to join the Greater Manchester Inreach Assessment Center (GMAIC).GMAIC's role is to offer gatekeeping assessments, bed management and case management to any CYP, who may require a Tier 4 Inpatient admission.
We work in collaboration with our NHS inpatient providers, for any Tier 4 referral/request for an Inpatient admission.The gatekeeping assessment involves establishing if the threshold has been met for an inpatient admission, or if alternative least restrictive options could be attempted initially.
We also think about level of relational security is required and what unit will best suit the needs of the young person.The bed management function involves daily liaison with CAMHS Lead Provider Collaborative (LPC) and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), to seek approval/funding and ensure our CYP are appropriately placed within different types of Inpatient settings.
GMAIC then offer Case Management for any CYP who is placed in an inpatient bed within the Independent sector, for any CYP with a diagnosis of ASD/LD, CYP's who have had a previous number of inpatient admissions or with extremely complex needs and CYP who will be turning 18 whilst an inpatient.
Main duties of the job You will have the opportunity to make profound improvements in how crisis care is experienced by young people and those who care for them.You will be working closely with our inpatient colleagues and have responsibility of managing the Single Point of Access for all Inpatient referrals for the GM population of 13-18 year old young people who are being considered for inpatient care.This will involve working with CYP with a variety of mental health difficulties and diagnosis such as Psychosis, Bipolar Disorder, Emotional dysregulationSchizophrenia, Depression/anxiety, LD, ASD, ADHD, PTSD, Conduct disorder and Attachment difficulties.You will also have the opportunity to work closely with external services such as social care, CAMHS, FCAMHS, CMHT, CEDS, EIT, HTT to ensure the correct pathways are in place, to support our CYP's discharge from hospital.We have seen already how we have positively impacted in ensuring that our young people are being supported within local services, and with the help of our colleagues within RRT reducing the dependency on inpatient care, meaning young people are getting supported at home, in a timely manner.As a member of the Greater Manchester Assessment and Inreach Centre you will be at the heart of a well-funded, well organised, hugely valued work-stream.

Job description Job responsibilities Lead and co-ordinate an effective service to ensure there are safe and effective pathways in place for all young people across the footprint into specialised inpatient settings within the NHS and independent sector.Maintain and co-ordinate the Single Point of Access for all referrals into regional specialised inpatient beds on a daily basis.To ensure the provision of a 5 day, high quality clinical service to young people before, during and after admission to a specialist inpatient setting, co-ordinating bed management for the whole of the NHS Greater Manchester GAU and ED beds.
To also work closely with our providers so the out of hours offer is consistent and meets the needs for those young people.To manage and register all referrals into the team and co-ordinate full and timely responses offering alternatives to admission where appropriate.To remain committed to ensuring a clear, timely and optimum outcome and resolution for all referrals.To promote and maintain partnerships and interface with other professionals and agencies that work within the child and adolescent mental health settings.To provide case management role for young people when their pathways have become disrupted, or have complex needs.
Key requirements of Person Specification You will have a relevant core professional qualification in mental health or social care plus evidence of continued professional development in a CAMHS related area.You will have evidence of professional registration.You will have substantial experience of risk assessment and risk management.Have experience of assessment, formulation and managing complex cases and risk within a mental health serviceAn extensive range of clinical experience within the speciality or within a care pathwayExperience of exercising clinical responsibility for patients care and treatment and case managementExperience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carersExperience of working across professional/organisational boundaries.You will have a genuine and passionate belief in the child centred, needs led, recovery focused values base of the service.You will need to recognise the value of flexibility and availability for young people and be able to work weekends, unsocial hours and have use of a car or suitable means of transport to enable support of young people across GM.
Person Specification education and qualifications Essential Relevant Core Professional qualification in mental health registered nurse, clinical psychologist, social worker plus evidence of continued Professional development in a HYM related area Evidence of professional registration and continued professional development Educated to masters level or equivalent demonstrable experience.
Desirable Training in one or more additional specialised areas of practice including children and young people Experience Essential Experience of working as a senior clinician in clinical settings which meet the core competencies of the post Experience of managing complex cases within a mental health service An extensive range of clinical experience within the speciality or within a care pathway Experience of working across professional / organisational boundaries Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for patients' care and treatment.
Experience of teaching, training and / or professional and clinical supervision Experience of supervision of less experienced practitioners within the MDT Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
