Job summary A great opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced and dynamic nurse to join the urology team at East Suffolk and North East Essex Foundation TrustWe are looking for an experienced nurse who has knowledge and experience in Urology/Uro-oncology nursing.
As an Uro-oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will deliver a high quality specialist nursing service to our patients with suspected urology cancer or confirmed cancer diagnosis.
Which includes prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular and penile cancer.
The successful candidate must have the passion and drive to provide patient centred care, including supporting patients and families with bad news, providing information on treatment options, to be able to advocate for the patient and family, and support symptoms associated with cancer and its treatment.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will also undertake Nurse-led clinics to support patients in surveillance.This is a challenging and demanding role that requires a proactive, self-motivated and dedicated person, who is capable of understanding complex care pathways, across multiple agencies and services to ensure the highest quality of care and service delivery for our patients.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to manage your own work load and have problem solving skills.
You will be an excellent team player but equally be able to work in a self-directed manner.The post holder will work within the multi-professional team and the successful candidate will be expected to drive forward quality initiatives that enhances care delivery and the patient experience for urology cancer patients.

In this case a band 6 development post will be offered until achieved, using ASCEND competency.
Main duties of the job The post provides a Clinical Specialist Nurse Service for patients with a urology cancer (Bladder, Renal, Prostate, Testis or Penile).
The post holder will provide expert care, advice and support to both patients and their families undergoing treatment or surveillance on an in-patient, out-patient and community basis and will act as a resource for other staff The main emphasis of this role is to support and advise new patients and their families and carers at the time of diagnosis, and beyond and to develop follow up services for patients with a urology cancer including nurse-led clinics.
To comply with clinical governance guidelines the post holder will identify gaps in current service provision and streamline patients' pathways through a structured programme of consultation with Consultants and other members of the multidisciplinary team including relevant user groups.
Ensure effective collaborative working alongside members of the Multidisciplinary team including Oncology and Palliative care teams Be aware and up to date with current methods of treatment and current research, new clinical practices, procedures and facilitate care at a clinical level To provide education, advice and support for the health care team, to facilitate continuity of care throughout the patients' journey.

Person Specification Experience Essential Significant post registration experience with proven experience in cancer and/or urology Evidence of participation in audit, service development and implementation of change Evidence of teaching and supporting professional development of others within the clinical environment Evidence of managing and improving the patient experience Desirable Evidence of management and leadership responsibly, such as line management Evidence of participation in the cancer Quality Surveillance programme (peer review) Qualifications Essential Professional Registration with NMC Possesses an MSc in cancer specialist/ related health care area or has evidence of qualifications at this level or willing to work towards this Desirable Non-Medical Prescribing (v300) if appropriate to registered profession /role.
Leadership/management course Level 2 psychological support training Evidence of achievement of Fundamentals of Cancer Care learning outcomes or equivalent Knowledge Essential Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge within urology and/or Cancer Demonstrate an understanding of current developments in urology.
Knowledge of clinical governance and risk assessment/management Knowledge of infection control issues Desirable Demonstrate the ability to utilise current research finding in practice.
Good understanding of the strategic aims for cancer Skills Essential Evidence of both theoretical and practical skills and competency in patient management Strong leadership skills Works under own initiative with strong organisational skills and can work to deadlines.
Computer skills (, for radiology, pathology, microbiology ordering as per protocols and for clinical communication and data entry).
