The Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) seeks a full-time Communications Assistant to join its newly established Marketing and Communications team.
This is a one-year fixed-term contract, with the option to become permanent.
The candidate can be based in either the UK, Germany, Spain or Greece, and can work remotely.
Some international travel will be required.
Founded on 1st January 1964, the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) has become one of Europe's largest charitable academic organizations in the molecular life sciences, with over 30,000 members across 39 biochemistry and molecular biology societies in different countries of Europe and neighbouring regions.
FEBS promotes and supports biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, molecular biophysics and related research areas through its journals (FEBS Press), FEBS Congress, Advanced Courses, Fellowships and other initiatives.
There is an emphasis in many programmes on scientific exchange and cooperation between scientists working in different countries, and on promotion of the training of early-career scientists.
Our new team member will report directly to the Head of Strategic Marketing and Communications.
This role involves supporting various operational tasks and projects associated with communications, digital communications, marketing research and operations, and other operational responsibilities.
In-person meetings will be arranged periodically, depending on the candidate's location.

Key responsibilities: · Supports the Head of Strategic Marketing and Communications with various communication and digital communications tasks.
· Aids in the management of the website, community engagement, and social media platforms, specifically FEBS.org and FEBS Network.
· Contributes to projects focused on enhancing the website user journey and contributes to website user journey research and development of web design.
· Oversees and moderates the FEBS Network; collaborates with relevant stakeholders.
· Collaborates with FEBS Integration Committee Chair on the implementation of projects related to networking and promotion.
· Assists with regular communications activities.
· Conducts research on Search Engine Optimization and formulates keyword strategies.
· Evaluates website performance and utilizes tools such as Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics for management purposes.
· Designs and executes Search Engine Marketing (SEM) campaigns.
· Creates graphic design materials as required.
· Develops content, including texts.
· Supports marketing and promotional initiatives, including participation in events, field marketing (both physical and virtual), and other marketing and promotional activities.
· Prepares reports and presentations.
· Participates in meetings and events.

· Understands international agile work settings and demonstrates strong skills in managing time efficiently.
· Demonstrates the ability to engage in professional, timely, and effective communication daily.
· Applies project management techniques to effectively plan and manage multiple tasks on a timely manner.
· Adjusts quickly in remote work settings and workflows, utilizing tools such as Microsoft Teams Tasks planner and Outlook.
Essential requirements · A bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, or related fields is required.
Candidates with a BSc in science are also welcome, provided they possess experience in Communications and Marketing.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in Science Communications, Communications and/or Marketing.
· Experience in a scientific organization or volunteer work for a scientific, nonprofit organization.
· Excellent command of the English language (C2) · Excellent copywriting skills · Project management experience The recruitment process will consist of three rounds of interviews.
Candidates who are shortlisted for a final interview must be ready to participate in an in-person interview in Cambridge, UK , with a panel.
