This role is an entry level position will work with specialized engineers on managing and maintaining WPI's Infrastructure Systems.
These systems include Card Access, Camera Operations, Networking, Radio Systems, Emergency Phone Systems, Virtualization and Storage.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in technology, a problem-solving mindset, and a passion for maintaining a secure and efficient work environment.JOB DESCRIPTIONSecurity Card Access Management:Administer and monitor the security card access system for employees, contractors, and visitors.Manage user access permissions, update security card data, and troubleshoot access issues.Ensure the proper configuration and operation of card readers, door controllers, and related hardware.Security Surveillance Cameras:Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of security surveillance cameras.Monitor live camera feeds and review footage as needed for security and safety purposes.Support the integration and functionality of the security camera system with other building management tools.Network Administration:Support the day-to-day operation of the company's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.Work closely with Helpdesk, Information Security, and other teams to assist in troubleshooting network issues, including connectivity problems and network performance.Coordinate and support vendors and 3rd parties to resolve issues, get updated information to help with our network equipment/devices.Maintain network documentation and ensure systems are updated and patched regularly with current vendor-recommended code, including maintenance and security releases.Keep our data wiring tool up to date by Updating the cutsheet (Patch Manager) to make troubleshooting easier and also to know what is connected at any point in time.Campus Radio Systems:Coordinate and support vendors to ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of campus radio infrastructure, including emergency radio communication systems.Perform regular testing and updates of emergency radio systems to ensure they are ready for immediate use.Assist in the configuration of emergency radio communication and troubleshooting when needed.Emergency Phone System Support:Conduct regular, scheduled tests of each emergency phone, call box, and elevator emergency phone.Document testing schedules, outcomes, maintenance logs, and any repairs or replacements.Work with facilities and security departments to coordinate access and ensure that devices are accessible to students, faculty, and staff.Collaborate with manufacturers or third-party vendors for technical support and repair when necessary.Record any incidents or issues reported by users and actions taken to resolve them.Virtualization and Operations:Assist in routine tasks associated with the virtualization and storage clusters, including racking hardware and cable management.Support Student Workers when needed.Work with other teams to assist and support as required.Requirements:Associates degree in related field, Bachelor's degree preferred.0-2 years of relevant experience.FLSA STATUSUnited States of America (Exempt)WPI is an Equal Opportunity Employer that actively seeks to increase the diversity of its workplace.
