Job summary The Senior Healthcare Support Worker within the Outpatient setting across a variety of areas on site, providing high quality, caring, compassionate and personal care to patients and their families/carers, under the direction of the registered healthcare professionals and senior colleagues, both independently and as part of the multi- disciplinary team.
We currently have vacancies for a hour post and a hour post.Successful applicants must possess a high level of professionalism and confidence, and a positive commitment to service improvement.
We expect every team member to share in leadership and decision making, and to support junior and novice staff inachievementof their own potential.We are committed to supporting our staff to achieve their full potential and there are opportunities for ongoing CPD including wound care, medical devices and training specific to various specialities like ENT and Orthopaedics.You will be expected to meet all the Values and Behaviours set out by The Trust, act as a role model for junior staff and go that extra mile to provide the high standard of service required at all times in our Outpatient Department Main duties of the job As well as administrative preparation, communication with the public and delivering personal care, this senior role includes undertaking venepuncture, measurement of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, Blood Pressure) & ECG recording .
Training will be given for the right candidate if you do not already have these skills.

Person Specification Education & Qualifications Essential NVQ 3 or demonstration of equivalent experience as described in JD Care certificate (or demonstrate willingness to undertake) maths and English GCSE or equivalent Able to undertake ECG, Venepuncture and Observations without supervision Desirable Previous experience in Outpatients setting Trauma & Orthopaedic experience Knowledge Essential Data protection, caldicott and confidentiality principles Principles of Infection Prevention Desirable NHS Healthcare and challenges faced by NHS, and knowledge of health challenges faced by the local community Experience Essential Supporting junior staff by training Caring for patients Worked as a Band 2 HCA in a healthcare setting Desirable Supporting quality improvement within a similar setting though (for EG) audits / research and development activities Assisting with clinical procedures Working within an outpatient setting Skills and ability Essential Able to work on own initiative Able to participate effectively in team work Good communication skills (both written and verbal) , able to adapt style according to audience Able to carry out routine duties, adapting and reprioritising according to patient service need Basic computer skills with ability or willingness to develop more advanced IT skills Work related circumstances Essential Clean and tidy presentation of self Capable of undertaking patient and non-patient manual handling flexible to meet the needs of the service (late finishes, evening clinics, weekends)
