Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to lead the provision of a comprehensive financial and technical accounting function, playing a key role in maintaining financial integrity across the Trust.
This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with financial governance, providing expert accounting advice, and supporting the development of robust financial reporting and processes.As part of the Finance Team, you will oversee the production of the Trust's annual accounts, provide leadership to the financial accounting team, and ensure compliance with all relevant financial standards and regulations.

Main duties of the job Reporting to the Head of Financial Services, you will:- Lead the production of the Trust's annual accounts, ensuring all financial timescales and legal requirements are met.- Support the Head of Financial Services by deputising where required, and contributing to the delivery of well-designed and efficient financial systems.- Provide expert accounting advice, ensuring adherence to financial governance and best practices across the Trust.- Manage the Financial Accounting Team, promoting professional development, and ensuring key performance targets are met.- Analyse complex financial information to support decision-making, including option appraisals and business development processes.- Lead the coordination of the Trust's annual accounts and external audit processes, ensuring compliance with national guidelines and deadlines.- Develop and implement policies and procedures in line with statutory and NHS guidelines, providing specialist advice on their interpretation.- Actively engage with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, to build strong working relationships.- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the finance team operates effectively and efficiently.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Qualified Accountant: CCAB member body or CIMA qualifications Knowledge & Experience Essential Expert and specialist knowledge of financial accounting and reporting procedures within the NHS finance regime and legislative disclosure requirements; evidenced by practical experience and theoretical knowledge Significant experience of technical, VAT and income tax accounting rules and a sound understanding of accounting standards and their application in the NHS Knowledge of charities financial reporting requirements under Charity SORP and charity law An understanding of the financial governance responsibilities of a statutory NHS organisation Skills and Competencies Essential Ability to interpret, translate and advise upon government policies Managing Public Money, Losses & Special Payments and other NHS financial governance policies
