Job summary THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT DUE TO FUNDING FOR 16 MONTHS Strategic Clinical Networks are an essential national vehicle for joint working between key stakeholders including NHS Wales, Welsh Government and the third sector to improve the outcomes and experience for the population of Wales.
Integral to this is the need for continuous improvement and transformational change across a range of our services and approaches and the role of the Strategic Clinical Network is to support this at national, regional and local levels.
This exciting role provides an excellent opportunity for highly motivated individuals to support the national delivery of the National Strategic Clinical Network (NSCN) for Respiratory Conditions.
Main duties of the job The Physiologist Lead will be expected: To provide professional and strategic leadership to the network within their own area of expertise.
To provide strategic and clinical guidance and advice to associated Networks on the role and direction of the NSCN for Respiratory Conditions.
To communicate the vision around future service provision of Respiratory Conditions in a way which motivates the clinical community based on improving outcomes within a value-based context from national policy through to local delivery level.
To inspire colleagues to innovate and problem solve acting in the best interests of the population and take collective responsibility for decision making.
To support the National Clinical Lead in the development of patient centered models of care in line with the current and future iterations of the Quality Statement for Respiratory Conditions.
About us The NHS Executive works in partnership for and on behalf of Welsh Government, in and with the NHS in Wales and is hosted by Public Health Wales.
Our key purpose is to drive improvements in the quality and safety of care - resulting in better and more equitable outcomes, access and patient experience, reduced variation, and improvements in population health.
We do this by providing strong leadership and strategic direction - enabling, supporting, and directing NHS Wales to transform clinical services in line with national priorities and standards.

Respiratory medicine costs the NHS in Wales more than £400 million per year.
Building on the work of the 2022 Respiratory Conditions Quality Statement, and supporting development of future iterations, the National Strategic Clinical Network (SCN) for Respiratory Conditions will provide national leadership and drive forward change to deliver better quality, higher value, more consistent and accessible services for people affected by neurological conditions.
This should take into account workforce challenges and the impact and opportunities of innovation and different ways of working.
The post sits within the SCN for Respiratory Conditions and NHS Wales Executive which supports and advises Health Boards and Welsh Government in Wales.
Whilst the main responsibilities will be to the new SCN for Respiratory Conditions, the post holder will be required to work flexibly to respond to the business needs of the supporting clinical reference groups and workstreams consistent to those described in this job description.
The post holder will work with the National Strategic Clinical Network (SCN) Clinical Lead, for Respiratory Conditions core team to develop models of care closer to home, ensuring pathways are implemented to deliver a consistent integrated delivery of care at the point of need.
This will also require the postholder to work across other Networks to ensure a whole system approach is met, reducing potential for silo working.
