Job overview Please note that this is an internal only role and therefore only current employees of Oxford Health are eligible to applyWe're recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to join our Phoenix Ward at Littlemore Mental Health Centre where you'll engage with service users in a range of activities and interactions to aid them in their care plan journey and monitor progress.
Phoenix Ward is an 18 bedded Male Psychiatric Acute inpatient ward for those who have acute or severe and enduring mental illnesses, often with co-morbidities, which require treatment which would otherwise not be able to be given in the community or acute ward environment.Phoenix Ward aim to provide the most intensive nursing care and proactive and effective treatment to promote service users to recover and return to their usual place of residence.Whatever the challenges, we believe in opportunities and there is always an opportunity for hardworking, proactive, kind, and compassionate clinicians here.
Main duties of the job To actively engage service users in meaningful conversation and therapeutic activity.
Specifically, gaining an understanding of the individuals interests and incorporating these into the activities that are planned.Written documentation of your observations and interactions with service users clearly and accurately on the relevant clinical system.To participate as a member of the team in delivering care as prescribed in the individuals care plan.Participate in the development, monitoring and evaluation of individual care plans.
This will mean contributing your opinions and actively involving yourself in conversations whereby decisions are being formulated.Develop therapeutic relationships as part of the on-going assessment and care delivery process, and ensure relevant information is reported to the trained nurse on shift.Encourage and empower service users to be independent but assisting and supporting them to carry out activities of daily living when needs be.Be aware of basic symptomatic features that require observation and monitoring, knowing when to seek assistance and advice.Escort patients with section 17 leave out of the ward.
This is often on the hospital grounds but may also be outside of the grounds if consultant permits.Undertake and record physical baseline observation.
This includes pulse rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturations, respiration rate and temperature.

Qualifications Essential criteria A good command of English Language.Good IT skills.
Experience Essential criteria Previous experience of working in a clinical/rehabilitation setting.
Skills/Qualities Essential criteria Enthusiasm to work with people and promote a therapeutic environment.Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.Able to recognize stress/anxieties in colleagues, patients and their families and offer appropriate support.Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
