We are an enthusiastic, committed and developing psychological team within the Perinatal service.
We have developed good supervision structures to ensure best practices with access to peer supervision, and access to supervision .
We are an enthusiastic team of psychologist with a drive to ensure that psychological approaches are at the heart of the service through formulation, joint working, individual and group interventions in addition through delivering supervision and consultation to perinatal practitioners.
Main duties of the job To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
To provide psychological assessments of clients based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources including psychological, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.
To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
To support risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management To plan and prioritise their own patient workload, which will include taking full responsibility for organising referrals, managing their own waiting list, undertaking patients consultations, attending MDT reviews for those on their case load and other meetings as appropriate About us At Dorset HealthCare we're on a mission to empower people to make the most of their lives through our outstanding, joined-up healthcare services.

Person Specification KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING Essential A recognised qualification in one of the core Mental Health Professions (Psychiatric Nursing; Social work; Psychology or Occupational Therapist Professional Registration with HCPC or equivalent Must be fully accredited with the BABCP or have completed a BABCP accredited high intensity CBT course or diploma programme.
(Unless Applied psychologist requirement MSC or Doctorate in relevant psychology specialty).
Desirable Knowledge of research design and methodology, as practiced within the field of clinical psychology Experience Essential Experience of working as a psychological therapist with patients with complex presentations in the perinatal service.
A clear understanding of the function of perinatal mental health services.
Experience of working in multidisciplinary team community teams, independently and as part of the team including joint working.
Desirable Pre qualification training and qualifications in research methodology or other fields of applied psychology Experience of application of clinical psychology in physical and mental health setting which may include maternity or CAMHS Knowledge and Skills Essential Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological methods and intervention Desirable high level knowledge of theory and practice of at least 2 specialised psychological therapies Other Essential Ability to teach and train others using a variety of complex multi media materials Desirable experience of working in a multi cultural framework
