Job summary We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic individual to join our team in North East Essex within the field of Physiotherapy.
We are looking for an experienced band 6 Physiotherapist who is looking to specialise in the field of Inpatient Medicine.The Medical team at Colchester covers 4 wards with subspecialties including gen med, endocrinology, renal, gastroenterology, and acute short stay.The successful candidate will be expected to deputise for the Band 7 team lead in their absence, and therefore this role will offer the opportunity to develop leadership skills and experience as well as specialising their clinical practice.Staff are expected to participate in 7 day working and work on the inpatient respiratory on-call rota.We are an Integrated Therapy team with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working extremely closely in integrated teams to provide excellent & rapid assessment & discharge planning to our clients.
You will need to have experience in discharge planning & skills in identification of needs for adaptive equipment.Interviews will be held Face to Face in the first Instance and a tour of the department / hospital will be offered on the day.
Main duties of the job You will be expected to perform safe, evidenced based physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, and deliver an individualised treatment programme from a range of optionsYou'll undertake comprehensive assessments of patients, including those with diverse or complex presentations, using clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to assist in diagnosis and choose from a range of treatment options to achieve the desired goal.
To formulate treatment plans and recommend best course of intervention, considering patients' personal goals and objectives, to develop comprehensive discharge plans.You will be responsible for your own caseload, and for a defined area of the service, initially with supervision of senior staff then progressing towards working without direct supervision.
Supervision involves regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and one to one assessments.You'll be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work, including issues around consent and capacity.To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential BSc / MSc Physiotherapy HCPC Registered Physiotherapist Desirable Completion of an appropriate leadership course Completion of an approved University Clinical education course Membership of CSP Completion of an NHS Trust preceptorship program Experience Essential Wide range of rotational experience at Band 5 and 6 to include a medical / elderly rotation Experience in discharge planning Explanation of reasons for wanting to specialise in General Medicine Experience of working on a Respiratory On-call list Desirable Experience of supervising students clinically.
NHS experience as a qualified physiotherapist Knowledge Essential Post reg study relevant to Medical Speciality Teaching / leading of IST Desirable Knowledge of local community services and discharge pathways Examples of application of current evidence based practice and critical appraisal
