Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy service for Children and Young People Service in Hywel Dda Health Board.Applications are invited from occupational therapists with demonstrable experience in working within paediatric occupational therapy.This is an exciting time to join our service as we re-design and develop innovative ways of delivering services to children and young people with a wide range of occupational therapy needs equitably across the three large geographical areas covered by the Health Board.
The successful post holder will support the existing patient focused pathways along with developing new pathways where required, including within the agreed area of specialism.
Main duties of the job We're seeking to appoint a proactive, motivated and dynamic individual with demonstrable experience of providing Occupational Therapy services to Children and Young people and whose values are aligned to those of Hywel Dda University Health Board.An exciting, innovative and supportive occupational therapy service, we are passionate about delivering a high standard of service to the children and young people that we work with.

We have an established CPD programme and are willing to support formal training opportunities where required.You will be joining an experienced, highly motivated and supportive team, delivering high quality, evidence based, Occupational Therapy services to Children and Young People with a wide range of functional actively support professional development and encourage all Occupational Therapy staff to take an active role in service improvement.The post holder will be expected to travel between settings.
Mileage allowance is payable and a lease car scheme is available.

Job description Job responsibilities This post is advertised as a Band 6, however applicants who do not currently hold all the necessary competencies to a Band 6 level are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under Annex 21 rules whereby during the first year payment will be 70% of the top rate of band 6 pay, and the second year 75%.Applicants would be supported to develop their competencies required to fulfil the role within 24 months.
Following successful completion and successful attainment of skills and competences for the role, the post holder will then be paid at band 6 (minimum point on the scale).
Failure to achieve the competencies in the designated timeframe could result in re-deployment.
As part of the Annex 21 process, there is no financial penalty to those who apply for this role where the percentage will cause a reduction in pay, subsequently a local protection would be put in place until the pay has caught up.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge Essential Degree in Occupational Therapy Current HCPC Registration Knowledge of relevant current health and social care legislation applicable to role Knowledge and application of Microsoft Office software Understanding of the roles of other staff groups in health and social care Knowledge of a range of rehabilitation interventions across all therapies.
Understanding and application of relevant outcome measures to demonstrate effectiveness Understanding and application of clinical governance, including research and audit methodology Desirable Knowledge of other services that link across primary/second ary/intermediate care.
Working knowledge of therapeutic equipment Knowledge of Health Board and priorities Accredited Practice Educator Accredited Agored Assessor Experience Essential Significant post graduate experience of working as an occupational therapist across a range of settings and variety of conditions Managing a complex and varied caseload Working independently with indirect or arms length supervision.
Delegation and Supervision of staff Experience of coping independently with distressing or emotional situations in challenging work environments Working as part of a team Experience of contributing to service development and implementing service changes Direct involvement with carers and families Self-development and application of learning Use of adapted techniques for improving patient outcomes Desirable Experience of working with groups Experience of working in a community setting Experience of using virtual communication platforms for delivering service.
