Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Haematology Directorate at Cardiff and Vale UHB for an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative nurse to become the Sister/Charge Nurse of our inpatient area on B4 Haematology.
based at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring delivery of safe patient care, facilitation of efficient patient flow, and appropriate management of nursing staff.We are a friendly and experienced team, who strive to deliver excellent patient care.
We work closely with colleagues in the multidisciplinary team and together our objective is to ensure patients and their families receive care which is tailored to meet their individual needs.
Our unit is a fast moving and progressive area which actively supports opportunities for professional and personal development.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will have either a Haematology, oncology, or acute setting background and have excellent communication skills .
People management skills are essential, with the ability to inspire a team to achieve its potential.
The role offers an exciting challenge for anyone who wants to progress within their career in acute nursing.Post holders will be expected at all times to behave in accordance with our Health Board values and behaviours whilst demonstrating commitment to the delivery of high-quality services to patients.The University Health Board (UHB) is a smoke Free Health Board.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered Nurse Degree Pertinent post graduate qualification or willing to undertake one Bronze IQT Desirable Recognised management qualification Recognised leadership qualification MSc in pertinent subject Teaching qualification EXPERIENCE Essential Knowledge of legislation pertinant to the role Proven and relevant experience at band 6 Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code (2018) Proven post-registration experience and evidence of coordinating and managing a team of staff Experience of working in a multiprofessional environment Experience in budget management Experience of effective staff management Experience of running a ward/ area/department Experience of mentoring pre- registration nursing/midwifery students Desirable Experience of leading a team Experience of working in a band 7 role Understanding of financial and resource and management processess SKILLS Essential Able to demonstrate an awareness of professional issues and developments.
