This is a full-time hybrid role working from home and our office in Birmingham.
What's in it for meWork with the team on a variety of projects, using problem solving and analytical thinking to support the team to solve legal and practical problemsSupport the regulation of the profession, protecting and promoting the public interest, and help shape and implement our responses to new challengesAssist the team on abroad and varied workload, focussing on public law and regulatory policy development, and including advice on best practice to the wider businessThe roleAs a Paralegal working within the General Counsel Advice Team, your role will be pivotal in providing high level legal and administrative support across the team to provide high quality, effective and timely advice on the legal obligations and regulatory powers available to the organisation.
This will include researching, analysing and interpreting caselaw, and delegated legislation and procedures, to support an understanding of how they practically apply to the work of the SRA.
You will help the team to provide innovative solutions to complex legal problems, touching on a variety of areas of law.
This may include assisting the team in drafting new professional rules and guidance and advising on the SRA's own operations.
You will work closely with our team members and across the organisation, and also with external stakeholders.
You will be part of a high-performance culture - sharing knowledge and expertise across the team and wider business.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is proactive, has a high level of attention to detail and is a team player.
What we are looking forCandidates should have a Qualifying Law Degree or equivalent qualification from CilexTo be able to work accurately, rapidly and consistently, with close attention to detailAbility to prioritise and manage competing demandsGood analytical and research skills with the ability to proactively support the team in providing accurate and timely legal adviceAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingAbility to use a range of IT packages to include Microsoft Excel / Word/ Teams and familiarity with on line legal information services such as Lexis Nexis and LawtelAbility to work flexibly, autonomously and as a part of a team to ensure delivery of SRA's objectives
