Job summary The role has two distinct facets, the main one centres on the development and implementation of a strategy for the early recognition and management of sepsis.
This will be approximately 80% of the role.
The second element of the role involves being an active member of the resuscitation service, which will focus on providing the multi-professional team with the prerequisite skills needed to deal with the deteriorating patient and victims of cardiac arrest.
This is primarily based around resuscitation training.
In addition, there is an expectation that the post holder will provide clinical support for the 'emergency team'.
This will form the remaining 20% of the role.
The role will involve embracing the audit cycle, research, reporting back findings into the organisational hierarchy.
The post is based in the Education Centre at Stepping Hill post holder will be required to engage with both community-based and inpatient stake holders and network with other sepsis and resuscitation providers.
Main duties of the job Develop systems to identify, address and reduce breaches in the management of 'High Risk' sepsis.
Attend cardiac arrests calls as a member of the Cardiac Arrest Team, providing care as required and supporting the clinical team leader.
Support areas following a clinical event, with practical assistance, support and debrief, as required.
Contribute to clinical governance processes, including adverse incident reporting/investigating and the management of complaints, as appropriate.
Contribute to the clinical governance process through audit and research.
Minimise clinical risk by participating in the development and implementation of clinical protocols relating to resuscitation and acute deterioration of the patient.
Assist with simulation events in clinical areas as a means of evaluating resuscitation service provision.
Ensure interventions undertaken are in line with best practice guidelines.
Promote a positive relationship with all stakeholders within the service.
Support the Lead Resuscitation Officer to develop and facilitate relevant clinical skills and practice in line with national and local policy.
Support and develop junior members of the Sepsis/Resuscitation team.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered Healthcare Professional (NMC, HCPC, GMC) Evidence of further academic study to at least degree level Teaching qualification or relevant experience Evidence of CPD Desirable ILS or ALS instructor Knowledge and Experience Essential Good knowledge of relevant policies regarding sepsis NMC standard and requirements Proven interest in sepsis Demonstrable interest in resuscitation Evidence of post registration experience in an acute setting Cli;nical leadership skills Experience of supporting learners Desirable Evidence of service improvement or change Experience of report wrting Skills and Abilities Essential Flexible and adaptable Collaborative and inclusive Ability to work across boundaries to manage change and delivery of service Critical analysis skills Other Desirable Full driving licence
