Job summary We are seeking applications from suitably qualified Radiographer to join our team in at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Shrewsbury.This opportunity is primarily within the treatment areas.We offer a supportive, collaborative working environment and the chance to participate in our Radiographer led initiatives including Review Clinics, Site specific MDTs, virtual simulation and IGRT.We actively encourage role development and help staff in achieving their personal goals and aspirations.
All staff have the opportunity to work flexible hours; full-time posts work hours over four long days with a day off.
All staff participate in on-call for emergency patients at the weekend, late rota and on call.
Main duties of the job To carry out all aspects of Radiotherapy treatment in line with the requirements of the Radiotherapy Services Manager.To work alongside other professional groups to develop site specific techniques to improve the quality of care for patients receiving radiotherapy in this departmentEnsure the needs of the patient are identified and met.
About us The department consists of 3 Varian Truebeam Linear Accelerators; a Gulmay Unit and a Canon wide bore CT scanner with radiographer-led palliative virtual simulation using Eclipse.
A new Canon Exceed LB CT scanner has just been installed We are planning to extend the SABR service to include bone and nodes soon.
We have introduced SGRT and participate in tattooless radiotherapy We have an active Clinical Trials department and participate in most major trials.
Time away from work is just as important and Shropshire is a beautiful, mostly rural county where we enjoy a high quality of life.
Job description Job responsibilities For full duties and responsibilities please refer to the attached document entitled Candidate Job Pack Person Specification Professional qualifications Essential oMinimum requirements for University entrance but including at least one science subject at A level oBSc in radiographic studies or equivalent DCRT oState registration with the Health Professions Council Desirable oHas carried out research; undertaking post graduate qualifications Experience and Knowledge Essential oSufficient experience of working as a qualified therapeutic radiographer to have developed the technical and professional skills necessary to work at this level.
oWide experience with radiotherapy equipment and techniques.
oExperience with megavoltage, orthovoltage and superficial treatment units oExperience with IGRT oExperience on CT and in dosimetry oExperience on treatment record and verify systems oBasic IT skills oKnowledge acquired during BSc or equivalent training includes: oOncology - Fully comprehensive and detailed knowledge of disease process and treatment.
oRadiobiology- effects of radiation on biological systems.
oPrinciples of radiotherapy techniques.
oApplication of radiation physics to Radiotherapy oLegislation associated with the use ionising radiation in medicine(Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposures) Regulations (IRMER), Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) oHealth and Safety procedures oHuman Anatomy and physiology oChemotherapy - drugs and modes of action Desirable oContributes to research and audit oExperience with SABR oCT planning inc 4d CT
